David Chene, Executive Director

David Chené was born and raised in New Mexico. He recently joined the NM Youth Conservation Corps team as the Executive Director in June 2025.  Mr. Chené previously served with the AmeriCorps Agency from 2022-2025 as a Senior Portfolio Manager with the Mountain Region. Mr. Chené has also held positions such as Civic Engagement Manager for the City of Albuquerque Mayor’s Office, Organizational Growth and Community Relations Manager for Albuquerque Community Safety (ACS) Department, and Executive Director for the Serve New Mexico Commission. His career in promoting service, volunteerism and youth development began as a VISTA Volunteer in 2005. He holds a bachelor’s degree in intercultural communication and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of New Mexico.

Morgan Tolen, Program Coordinator

Originally from Southern California, Morgan graduated from the California School of Culinary Arts Cordon Bleu and worked as a chef in restaurants both in California and Santa Fe. She has been in Santa Fe for over 15 years and prior to joining the YCC, worked for the New Mexico Film Office.  She is excited to be part of the YCC team.  In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family and of course cooking!
